The Kitchen Makeover Begins!!

J and I have been talking for quite a long time about redoing our kitchen.  It's so GREEN as it is now.  I absolutely hate it.  We are finally getting started on this project and I'm so excited to see the finished product. :)

We started this weekend by taking everything out of the kitchen.  (And, I have to say, I can't wait until it's put back together.) We're doing everything as inexpensively as possible, but it will still be a very big change when we're through, because just about everything will be different.  We've already started by putting in a new exterior door - the old one was white, and was pretty beat up. We plan to keep everything pretty neutral for resale, whenever that may be.

 

This empty corner held a hutch we bought at Target, and a microwave cart.  We are going to try to find cabinets that match the ones we have, and we'll put in new cabinets (top and bottom) in that corner.

 

This is our dining room right now.  We moved everything into here, except for our refrigerator, which is currently sitting in our entryway.  It definitely takes about twice as long to make anything now, with going back and forth between 3 rooms, and digging through the dining room to find what we need.

Here is what we plan to do:

• Paint the walls and cabinets (hopefully to be completed on Sunday)
• New floor (we're doing laminate wood)
• New countertops
• New cabinets in the corner by the window
  
• New hardware
• New ceiling fan
• New kitchen sink
• Repaint the ceiling white
  
• And, finally, new window treatments

Hopefully I'll be able to post pictures next week of the new wall and cabinet colors! :)
